Electrical Machines

About the Subject:

Electric machines is the universal study of electric motors and electric generators. By the classic definition, electric machine is synonymous with electric motor or electric generator, all of which are electromechanical energy converters: converting electricity to mechanical power (i.e., electric motor) or mechanical power to electricity (i.e., electric generator). The movement involved in the mechanical power can be rotating or linear.

Topics to be covered in this Seminar:

D.C. Machines – Principle of operation and construction of motor and generator – torque and EMI equation – Various excitation schemes- Principle , Construction and Types of Transformer - EMF equation - Equivalent circuits - Phasor diagrams- Principle of Operation, type - EMF Equation and Phasor diagrams - Synchronous motor-Rotating Magnetic field Starting Methods , Torque V-Curves, inverted – V curves- Induction motor-principle of operation, Types - Torque-slip characteristics - Starting methods and Speed control of induction motors- Types of single phase induction motors –Double field revolving theory- Capacitor start capacitor run motors – Shaded pole motor – Repulsion type motor – Universal motor – Hysteresis motor -Permanent magnet synchronous motor – Switched reluctance motor – Brushless D.C motor
